Kelly McKellar
Hello! My name is Kelly McKellar. I joined GSDA in 2019 as an enrichment class teacher and in 2021 I became an Educational Consultant. I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology degree from the University of Oklahoma and my Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from San Diego State University. Before joining GSDA I worked for the Orange County Outdoor Science School teaching science, as a literacy support teacher in a local elementary school, and as a library tech for the San Diego County Library Santee branch. I was a stay-at-home mom for many years and enjoyed that time with my daughters very much.
As a teacher, I especially love learning about and teaching science! It brings me so much joy to see the wonder in a student's eyes when they learn something amazing about nature. Reading is also a big passion of mine. It is fun to read with my students and to listen to them get excited about a book that they have read. As a consultant, I love having the opportunity to cheer on and support my families in their homeschool journey.
Spending time with my husband and our twin daughters, who are currently away at college, is my favorite thing to do! We have two big, fluffy dogs that complete our family. For fun and relaxation I like to read, go to the beach, watch movies, hike, camp, and spend summers on the lake near where I grew up in Oklahoma.
