Catherine Ann

I have had the honor of serving as the Director of Greater San Diego Academy since 2015. I joined GSDA in 2008 as an Educational Consultant, later becoming a Lead Consultant in 2011 and Assistant Director in 2014. Prior to my time at GSDA, I earned my BA in Art History and Spanish from UC Davis in 1996. I then began my career in education as a bilingual teacher in a Spanish/English biliteracy program in San Diego Unified. After leaving the traditional classroom and before finding GSDA, I spent seven years running my own business and supporting families as a birth doula and pregnancy massage therapist.

While homeschooling my son for a few years at GSDA, I learned that I am passionate about discovering the unique spark in each person and helping them believe in their ability to achieve great things. There is no greater joy than seeing a student that struggled in the traditional classroom (like my son) realize that they are worthy and capable.

I love that I am part of an amazing community that supports our students and families to rediscover their joy in learning, their belief in themselves, and the importance of finding their own way.

Outside of work, I enjoy painting, meditation, traveling, and going to escape rooms with my kids.
